Which freediving or spearfishing book is the
best for you?
Back in the Stone Age, when I began to spearfish, we were very
limited in available books and videos to learn and inspire us on
the subject
of freediving and spearfishing. We learned from the carvings on
the cave walls in which we lived. Now, after I shave my protruding
eyebrows, I can see we have several fictional and non-fictional
books to educate and inspire us. We have videos and DVDs
to study and critique. Many sports, like hunting Mammoth, one can
learn much faster by watching the experienced Neanderthals, the
gear they use and how they use it.
It is common for a person to ask what book should they read or
which is the best video for them. The fact is, you can learn from
every
book and video on the market, some more than others, but learning
is priceless so the price of a book or a video, that you can read
or watch over and over, is well worth the minimal price.
Spearfishing
books and videos are produced worldwide and therefore
cover a variety of tropical and cold-water fish species, gear and
techniques divers use to make
their experience most successful in the part of the world they are diving.
Some people say they only like to watch videos pertaining to where
they dive and don’t
like to watch videos from foreign places. Well, the more you are exposed to a
variety of conditions you will become more successful where you dive regularly.
By trying different or foreign gear and techniques you may find that they work
on some fish in your area. And you may be the only one who knows that because
you were willing to learn and try something new.
So, I guess I haven’t actually told you which spearfishing
book or freediving
video is
best for you because it depends what you are looking for specifically.
Again, you can
learn from all of them so you may find over time that you acquired them all.
And that’s fine. Most of us have already and we are looking forward
to the next release so we can add it to our collection.
